Misery (1990)
“Misery” (1990) is a psychological thriller directed by Rob Reiner, based on Stephen King’s novel. The story follows famed author Paul Sheldon (James Caan), who, after a car accident, is rescued by his self-proclaimed number one fan, Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates). Annie takes Paul to her remote home and soon reveals her unstable obsession with his writing. When Paul attempts to escape, he becomes trapped in a dangerous and twisted cat-and-mouse game. Kathy Bates’ chilling performance earned her an Academy Award for Best Actress. The film explores themes of obsession, isolation, and the power of creativity.
