Divergent (2014)
Divergent is a 2014 dystopian film set in a future where society is divided into five factions based on virtues: Abnegation (selflessness), Amity (peacefulness), Candor (honesty), Dauntless (bravery), and Erudite (intelligence). The protagonist, Beatrice “Tris” Prior, discovers she is “Divergent,” a person who does not fit neatly into any one faction. After choosing Dauntless, Tris uncovers a conspiracy led by the Erudite faction to overthrow the government. As she navigates a dangerous initiation process, Tris forms alliances, embraces her unique identity, and fights to prevent the faction war that threatens to destroy her world.
